I have the daunting task of starting my life over, yet again.

A failed marriage. Although it is Alex who failed me…

I am AJ’s mom and no one, not...

Nicole Rodriguez is a pseudonym for author Nicole Seymour

Instead of a midlife crisis, I decided to write my first novel. I outlined my book, but my self-doubt caused me to abandon my project for three years. Finally, in 2023, I got pissed off at myself, cursed myself out in all caps, and finished my book.

It wasn’t easy writing this novel, and many times, I had to decompress for several days, since the subject matter was triggering for me. I am a domestic violence survivor, and I made a promise to myself that I would find a way to spread awareness the best way I know how…writing. I also wanted to include the mental health 'side effects' of domestic violence, such as depression, anxiety, and PTSD.

I am an indie author because I wanted full control of my creativity.  Most of my indie books will be written with the midlife, Gen X woman in mind. My genre is primarily psychological fiction with dark humor and a sprinkle of romance. I have read thousands of books in my five decades on this earth, but I put my heart into Vortex: A Fictional Memoir. Not only do I want to get the word out, but I also want my son to be proud of me.
