My goal for today was to edit my novella and download Vortex to Barnes & Noble (long overdue), Apple Books, Kobo, and possibly Ingram Spark. Destiny had other plans.
Side-tracked by phone calls and just life in general, I looked at my watch and it was almost 4 pm!
To be honest, last week was an emotional blur. A school shooting in Colorado was overshadowed by the murder of a Conservative activist. Apparently, Americans think it's okay to assassinate someone if they don't like or agree with them, and the safety of children in schools isn't a priority. Even in death, the media is giving this narcissist too much attention.
How about a protest in front of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue for the reform of gun laws?
Children should be able to learn in a safe environment instead of having disaster and active shooter drills. Why isn't this a priority?
Okay, I'm stepping down from my podium now.
I'm still determined to publish this novella next month, just in time for Domestic Violence Awareness Month. If I manage to finish my editing without rewriting the entire subplot, I could reach my goal. The real reason I'm not ready to post is because of imposter syndrome. Or, that I may not like the way the story and plot twists play out. We will see.
Posting content on social media has taken a backseat. Comparing myself to other authors nearly caused me to spiral in March. Not going down that dark road again.
If you would like to sample my writing before I release my novella, Vortex: A Fictional Memoir is still available on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited. I will post another update when Vortex is available on other platforms.
For now, I will do my best and not fall into the rabbit hole of anxiety and despair. And, I hope I meet more fantastic authors on Instagram and Threads...because Facebook is boring af!
Until next time!
Follow me on Facebook, Instagram, and Threads! My content focuses on DV awareness, Gen X women, midlife women, women over 50, mental health, and talking about my books.
I am a budding mental health and domestic violence advocate. I am also a DV survivor. I intend to spread awareness by using my writing as a 'playbook', exposing abusive misogynists and their manipulative tactics.
